Karate Kids!

This week, five of the children from Godawari who have been learning karate for the past two years as part of the Trust's recreation programme were given the very honourable role of officially welcoming the Japanese Grand Master who founded the karate school the children attend.

The welcome event was held at the National Stadium in Kathmandu and was attended by nearly 300 people. The children were selected to perform a karate demonstration.

Bikram Poudel (pictured bottom left) said he was very excited to shake the Grand Master's hand and speak to him personally. Bikram hopes that his karate skills will assist him in reaching his goal of serving in the British Army.

The children involved were: Bikram Poudel, Sharmila Blon, Devika Lama, Shanta Prajha and Rama Tamang. All five are in the ninth grade and attend karate classes at 6am every morning at the karate school based at the National Stadium, which was set up by the Japanese Grand Master Hiromasa Tanaka some 18 years ago.
