The biggest obstacle to a trek in Nepal? A volcano in Iceland...

Our team of brave trekkers completed their trek through the world's highest pass in May, helping to raise vital funds for our work in Nepal.

The team of ten - including founder Philip Holmes, pictured middle left - successfully scaled their way through the Thorong La Pass at a dizzy 5,416m before making their return to Kathmandu.

While they were busy taking on the challenge, an activity that started beneath the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier, thousands of miles away in south-west Iceland, had been making its own headlines - and in the process ensuring that the hardest part of the trekkers' adventure would appear to be getting home.

Our trekkers' return flights were scheduled just as British airspace came to a grinding halt thanks to the volcanic ash being spewed out by the eruption in Iceland.

After an extended stay in Kathmandu when the team used the time to learn a bit more about the country and the work they have gone through the pain barrier to support, we are delighted to report that they have now all made their way home.

Thank you to everyone for the hard work in training for and taking part in the trek - and on behalf of a certain volcano, sorry for the delay in getting you back home!

You can still sponsor the trek by visiting Philip's fundraising page. All donations are gratefully received.

You can watch a video of the trek here.
