A test of patience
A demanding rescue mission coordinated by EBT and supported by The Grey Man has resulted in two Nepali girls being freed and a man alleged to have trafficked up to 20 additional Nepali children and young women into his own circus in India being remanded in custody.
Following extensive research the team was able to raid The Ambika Circus in Rajasthan and free two Nepali minors currently working there, while initiating the arrest of Kishan Mokhtan (left), a Nepali national who has allegedly been transporting Nepali girls across the open border to work in his touring circus for a number of years.
Red tape and confused cross-border communications between police agencies has led to a protracted process, but lawyers are working to ensure that a custodial sentence commensurate with trafficking crimes is secured in India. Once that is in place we will be working to have him extradited to Nepal to serve out his sentence.
Throughout, the rescue party has been subjected to threats by allies of the trafficking agent and the circus.
Further details will be published as and when appropriate.
