Stars of the Future

Aman Tamang and Bijay Limbu have been making the headlines once again following their successes in Nepal’s 5th National Games.

Aman won three gold medals while Bijay scooped a gold, two silvers and a bronze in the individual and group Under-16 gymnastics events. Aman’s tally of three golds qualifies him for an additional NR25,000 prize.

EBT Founder/Director Philip Holmes said “Clearly these boys have a very bright future and can certainly look forward to participating in the SAARC Games when they come of age. But we’d all love to see them have a chance at the Olympics in London in 2012. The problem seems to be that Nepal hasn’t entered gymnastics athletes for previous Olympics so we’ll have to see what the Trust can do to train them to the necessary standard for selection.”
