A SECOND LIFE FOR MOSAICS
European law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse recently staged two exhibitions of our mosaics
simultaneously: one in its London offices and another in the Second Life virtual world.
Second Life is inhabited by millions of 'residents' worldwide, providing a platform for instant
networking and communication with people all over the globe.
The Esther Benjamins Trust was keen
to explore the potential of communicating our message against child trafficking to a wider audience.
A seminar on 'Developing the Web' staged at Field Fisher Waterhouse by partner David Naylor brought
together luminaries from the IT world and press to discuss how the internet and virtual worlds influence
modern society and business practice.
EBT was very kindly invited by David to exhibit some of the real mosaics made by victims of child
trafficking in the seminar room on the day, while also showcasing them in a virtual gallery in Second
Life. We worked very closely with FFW and design agency Depo Consulting Limited to coordinate the day.
The gallery and our Second Life presence are currently in their infancy, but we will be expanding in
2008 to incorporate more mosaics and arrange virtual events that serve as fundraisers for our
Programme Against Child Trafficking (PACT).
