SUPPORTERS' NEWS
Ken Round recently volunteered with us in Nepal, where he
worked tirelessly with the children in our refuges to help facilitate
therapy through art, drama and games.
Ken also managed to take a donation of sports equipment from Digby
Tedder school which has already been put to good use in our Hetauda
refuge, south-west of the capital Kathmandu.
On his return to the UK, Ken very kindly wrote a piece for the newsletter
of the CfBT Education Trust in Lincolnshire, which is circulated
around 380 schools in the region. He has also been talking to community
groups about The Esther Benjamins Trust, helping to bring the charity
to a new audience.
Jumble Sale in the South West
Chris Jones and her friends from Lostwithiel in the Fowey River
valley put in a great deal of hard work to help raise funds for
our work in Nepal. Their jumble sale in the town's St. Bart's Church
Rooms attracted a lot of interest from members of the community
and managed to raise £250 for EBT in the process.
Chris also distributed leaflets detailing our programmes in Nepal
to explain where people's donations go and how they help the children
we rescue.
Geneva Convention
A group of imaginative English speaking church-goers in Geneva recently
celebrated Italian culture to raise money for our work in Nepal.
Elizabeth Laravoire raised £525 when she
managed to persuade her husband Pierre and other male members of
the congregation at their Anglican church to cook an Italian-themed
supper for nearly 40 people. They then winded up the evening with
a musical quiz on Italian operas led by the church's organist and
choir master.
