On 29th
October 2006, twelve of our supporters experienced the thrill of
falling from 10,000 feet and raised nearly £10,000 in the process.
Eleven of them were jumping tandem with British Parachute Association
Instructors while one was brave enough to go solo! (pictured right).
Comments afterwards included:
"I can't
believe we were falling through the sky at 120mph yesterday! Work
today seems very boring. It was one of the best experiences I
have ever had! " (Lucie Noble)
"I am still buzzing from it and feel like I am now invincible!
To Oxford and beyond! - including high buildings! (I feel this
is a slightly better expression than flying like a bird!)" (Eleanor
Aldwinckle - pictured left)
"It was a brilliant day, I can't believe how great the weather
was. It was very odd to look across and see right to the coast.
Also to wake up this morning and relive the bit when you actually
jump and flip over! Definitely my favourite bit - stomach churning!
Also, when the instructor wanted to see the exit of the solo girl
jumping before me, I suddenly found my entire upper body sticking
out of the plane looking down 10,000 feet! I can't wait to get my
DVD."
(Louise Angel)
"I still
can't believe I free-fell for a mile within 30 seconds. What
a buzz! Half-way down I turned to the instructor and told him
I couldn't wait to do it again. If you get the chance, go for
it..."
(Ken Mulligan - pictured right)
"The safest I've ever felt in a small plane, if anything happened there was a parachute on my back."
(Nick Sankey - pictured far right)
"I wasn't nervous until I was hanging out of the side of the plane
with my legs dangling down. Then we just fell. It was so exhilarating
and terrifying , with the wind rushing past my face. Then the
parachute opened and it was so peaceful, we glided down to earth.
It was an awesome experience, so difficult to put it into
words!"
(Alice Cozens)
