SUPPORTERS' TESTIMONIALS
Many of our supporters recently nominated us for The Royal Bank
of Scotland and The Daily Mail's campaign to donate £1million to
children's charities. We are delighted to confirm that as a direct
result of your kind words, we were one of the charities chosen to
receive £10,000 - a great start to 2008.
We have been really touched by your comments as we aim to increase our funds for the forthcoming
year to enable us to help more children affected by the country's chronic poverty.
Thank you so much for taking the time to advocate what we are trying to achieve.
Here are just a few of the lovely things you have written about us:
"It is hard to think of a more deserving or worthwhile charity than
The Esther Benjamins Trust, which does so much to help the desperate
plight of Nepal's disabled and marginalised children and to fight
against child trafficking. Through the inspiration of the charity
trustees and the marvellous work of its dedicated staff, these children
are given opportunities to enter education and receive development
support to assist with reintegration and to help them regain self
esteem and give them the means for an independent future.
The Trust unlocks the wonder of life and the joy of being alive for these young people who would
otherwise be imprisoned by the helpless gloom of their situation. It is an inspiration to see
the results of its work and to know that every penny that the Trust receives is cleverly and
carefully utilised to provide the maximum advantage for the young people that it helps.
Go on, feel better this Christmas; give something to The Esther Benjamins Trust and feel
confident that you have done something really, really good!"

I could go on and on about the extraordinary work they do, but to cut it short:
EBT is a real example of how a few people can actually change the world! Meet just one of the
children who have suffered so severely and see it developing and growing with the help of EBT -
it will leave you amazed, enchanted and full of hope!

"The Esther Benjamins Trust is quite different to other charities and is able to attract an amazing
commitment and loyalty from its supporters. Caring for abused and neglected children and young people
in Nepal its London office is run on a shoestring.
The founder Captain Philip Holmes and his staff are currently engaged in rescuing children trafficked
to work in Indian circuses and not infrequently have been at risk of attack themselves when confronting
circus owners and corrupt local officials. Rescued children are cared for in a warm and supportive
family environment and taught skills which will enable them to find self respect, support themselves
and re-integrate with their own community.
I love this charity and hope you will want to learn more about it."

"The Esther Benjamins Trust has been rescuing children from quite appalling circumstances in Nepal
since 1999. At first children were found to have been incarcerated in prisons with their
felonious parents. The Trust not only rescued and housed them in secure, caring accommodation
but campaigned for a change in the law to prevent children going to prison in those circumstances.
Recently a project to rescue vulnerable Nepalese girls from ghastly abuse in Indian circuses
has resulted in over 200 kids being repatriated into the refuges set up by the Trust.
The Esther Benjamins Trust now seeks to concentrate on the even more worrying trend of the
exploitation of very young girls in the expanding sex industry, sadly gaining ground in Nepal.
To carry on the struggle against child trafficking in the raw poverty of this charming country,
the Trust needs support desperately, to provide secure accommodation, educational life chances,
re-training opportunities and a safe reintegration into the children's own communities.
The greatest reward will be the chance to give these children back their childhood."
