What You Can Do
Volunteer -
Nepal
The Esther Benjamins Trust derives great support from the contributions of volunteers offering their time and expertise to our work in Nepal.
We encourage socially-conscious people who are prepared to take on a direct challenge to consider a placement with us in Nepal.
EBT implements an interview process for each category of volunteer and we insist upon every volunteer having a full Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
Throughout the year, we advertise for two specific placements:
Long-term Programme Coordinators
The Trust recruits professional people with an interest (and ideally experience) in international development to help coordinate its work with local NGOs. These placements are usually a minimum of 6-9 months. Please contact Lois Clarkson for further details as these positions are planned months in advance.
Professional Artists
This is located in Bhairahawa (southwest Nepal) and utilises the skills and experience of professional artists from all over the world.
These placements are usually for a minimum of 3 months but can last up to 6 months. For further details, please email Lois Clarkson with your CV and a summary of your professional experience.
There are also short-term placements available throughout the year. We ask people successfully taking up placements in the following categories to demonstrate their commitment to the Trust by making a donation of £300:
Career Break/Visiting Supporter
A number of people from a variety of professional backgrounds have donated their time to work in our refuges in Kathmandu, Bhairahawa and Hetauda to help us deliver our programmes to the children in our care.
Graduates/Gap Year students
Younger volunteers also make a tangible contribution to our work. While some look to apply newly-secured qualifications in a practical way, many others draw on their enthusiasm and patience to build bonds with children and help them during their rehabilitation with us.
We really need all our volunteers to be reliable, dedicated people looking to offer something while also learning a great deal that they can take into their own lives.
